Mathilde Van Gheluwe
Mathilde Van Gheluwe began drawing comics at the age of ten for Le Journal de Marie, an independent periodical created by a classmate. Despite a feverish passion for underwater fauna and whales, Mathilde ended up studying illustration at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels, as well as at Sint Lucas in Ghent.
Her first comic strip Pendant que le Loup n'y est pas, co-written with Valentine Gallardo, was published in 2016 by Editions Atrabile. Since then, Mathilde has published short stories with publishers such as ShortBox, Bries, RuffHaus.
Following a residency at the Maison des auteurs d'Angoulême, she published her second comic Funky Town, in English with Swedish publisher Peow in 2019 and in French with Atrabile in 2020. She is now working on the sequel to Funky Town, as well as on a children's project for Sarbacane.
