The different steps in creating a comic strip
Once the objectives of a project have been defined and the script has been written and approved, there are several steps to the graphic realization of the pages.
1- Graphic research
For each character, as well as for sets, costumes, etc., the designer can submit several proposals, and we carry out a veritable casting process with pencil strokes.
2- Storyboard
Next comes the storyboard, a rapid composition of the page in sketches, to ensure readability, narrative fluidity and relevance. This is the most important stage, and we share it with the various project partners. The storyboards are produced on site, so that they can be submitted to everyone for critique.
3- Inking
Once the storyboard has been approved, the artist finalizes the pencil sketch and inks it (whether traditionally or digitally-in any case, this is the final rendering step). This is a more time-consuming step, which doesn't need to be done in the field.
4- Colorization
And finally, the pages can be colorized, but this is not mandatory.
