Inside La Guill' kitchens
Promoting the culinary and cultural diversity of Lyon's Guillotière neighborhood
Following the Festival des Cuisines du Monde held in June 2023 in La Guillotière, the neighborhood council and the association Re(A)Dorons la Guillotière decided to promote the neighborhood's culinary and cultural diversity, as a declaration of love for the area, by making an illustrated book. The project was conceived by and for local residents, to feature their local roots, backgrounds and places, and promote cosmopolitan living together.
A cookbook by and for residents
To create Dans les cuisines de la Guill', we met with 15 inhabitants of this Lyon neighborhood. They told us about their affection for it, the places they love, and their favorite spots… Without forgetting their favorite recipes from around the world. It's a great way to feature this cosmopolitan, lively area, where cuisine is queen!
We also wanted to depict the highlights on a map representing the historical perimeter of the Guillotière's village. The result is an arty, colorful poster that expresses the neighborhood life of its residents.
The production team
Produced by The Ink Link for the ReAdorons la Guillotière and the Conseil de Quartier de la Guillotière, illustrated by Maïlys Cart-Lamy in pop colors! Since November 24, 2023, this book, as well as the A3 poster, a postcard and a printed fabric bag, have been on sale on this website (12 euros each, for the work and printing). The project was supported by the City of Lyon.
