Olivier Copin
Olivier Copin was born in 1979 in Brazzaville, Congo.
After training as a painter in Metropolitan France, he settled in French Guiana where he creates illustrations for local publishing houses such as Plume Verte Édition, Ibis Rouge éditions or Orphie. He also works regularly with magazines such as Une Saison en Guyane and institutions such as the ARS.
In parallel to his work as a cartoonist, Olivier is also a professor of visual communication.
Through his drawings, he transcribes the characteristics of French Guiana that he likes so much, the unknown richness and the cultural mix characteristic of this country. His work often begins with walks in the city, in markets and popular places, to sketch what appeals to him.
He discovered comics through his voluntary involvement in the Carbet des bulles festival, whose objective is to have meetings about books and comics. He then became friends with two other artists, with whom he published the comic book Le manuel de la jungle and became president of the association Carbet des Bulles.
