IASC - Suicide prevention in humanitarian contexts

health

The beginning of the project

This guide addresses the issue of suicide and self-harm in humanitarian contexts, bringing together a wide range of approaches, tools, reference documents and feedback from the field to prevent them.

It is aimed at program implementers in international organizations, coordinators and other humanitarian actors.

A co-written project

The writing and the scripting are the fruit of close collaboration between mental health professionals working in UN agencies, NGOs and academic institutions, and humanitarian actors from many countries.

The Ink Link has been asked by IASC to illustrate the humanitarian field and its actions in a sensitive and concise way.

The artist

In collaboration with Julia Reynaud, we have chosen to highlight the men and women who work in the field on a daily basis, and to represent them in the diversity of settings, activities and situations they encounter.

The color palette chosen underlines the liveliness and dynamism of these committed players, particularly in the 16 multi-sector initiatives to prevent suicide in emergency situations, ranging from radio broadcasting campaigns by international organizations to data collection approaches implemented by national authorities.
